It is great to be a Joe fan, when we can complain about TOO MUCH product or nitpick packaging choices.

That said, I was hoping for this art with Retro Classified Recondo...

I'm still going to buy him though... Because I'm YorktownJoe....

Ugh, yeah that is terrible artwork. If they are going to market it as "retro" then bring back the OG artwork as well!

I noticed that. I wonder if the family of the original artist wants royalties now that he has passed. Of course you notice the new card does not say A Real American Hero. But i don't want to derail the joy over the figure, because it is really a sweet figure.

Oh definitely! And I prefaced my comments that we are so rich with G.I. Joe options right now!

Real complaints would be if there was no product for 10 straight years. Not that the art is not exactly the same. And now with Super7 O-rings coming back, and Hiya toys there are 3 3/4" and 4" options as well.

I heard somewhere that a lot of the original Garrido paintings were actually painted over for Tiger Force and other sub teams.

They could still recreate things from high res scans. But legal things may indeed be in play...

Yeah I've heard that lots of stuff got repainted over too.

Imagine a day when you hired an artist to create oil paintings of toys,
then had a photographer take 35 mm film pictures of the painting,
then had those negatives turned into specific size images,
then had those images printed onto cardboard stock,
then added an action figure and had figure bubbles glued to that cardboard.

THEN charge $2.99 retail for the product!

That is just short of a miracle...

People used to be interested in selling quality as a selling point. At the same time the US Dollar is virtually worthless today compared to then. Super7 is saying their 0-ring figures are going to sell for $22.

Well blackmajor sells O-rings loose in a bag for $15-$18.
So licensed ones with updated head-sculpts would likely cost more.

If i had never bought a Classified figure in my life, I'd be way more excited for new O-rings.

I couldn't justify the Mothership for space and price. I did put down for the Super7 O-ring Viper 5 pack, but I imagine that will get cancelled now as well. $75 plus shipping plus tax for my state = $89.90. That is just under $18/figure taxed and shipped. That wasn't a bad price. Interesting that they let me order an add-on without buying the main thing.

I considered the mothership, but i didn't pull the trigger because i need to see what the look on andreas face is when i try to fit the Classified Hiss on my shelf in a few days. And then i considered that next year the Classified Dragonfly and Vamp are going to be serious shelf hogs as well. Just not sure how i could have fit the mothership in my very limited space.

In 1982, the VAMP was my first ever Joe purchase with my own funds.
Maybe I should close out my collecting with the 2024 VAMP for purposes of symmetry.

^ha^ Unfortunately, the "plastic crack" effect is very real...

I have a question, i think i just figured out after messing around with Grunts helmet that the weird looking logo on the front of the helmets is a secret homage to the old hasbro logo that used to be on the belt buckles of the 82 figures. Anyone else pick up on this or am i nutso?
